Experiences &
Citizen Participation
The Project
Citizen Participation is a project of the Secretary of Communications for the Mayor of Buenos Aires. It pursues two major goals: implementing large-scale lead-generation campaigns and improving engagement rates by working with segmentation tools to reach specific audiences.
Main learning: excellent briefs will result in excellent content. Along the way, I understood design principles and persuasive copy.
City Experiences
On the one hand, we planned for exclusive “experiences” or events that granted access to activities usually restricted for citizens or requiring special government authorization. These events were announced as open calls or draws where only a few lucky winners would be selected, which enabled effective lead-generation campaigns.
Open Polls
For better engagement, our team would find opportunities where citizens could vote and decide on certain policies, enabling their participation through multiple platforms, such as mail, social media and SMS.
As a Project Manager, I collaborated across government departments, pitching the benefits of our communication campaigns and seeking opportunities to implement citizen participation polls or organize “City Experiences” events.

The Results
I overseed these projects from brief to execution, which involved collaborating with multiple stakeholders and ensuring their needs were correctly briefed to content production teams. It also encompassed working with legal teams, third-party vendors and journalists.
One of my favourite projects to organize was: “Climb the Obelisk on its 81st anniversary.”
More than 21,000 people enrolled, and we organized an event where 81 citizens had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to climb the Obelisk and see Buenos Aires from the top.
